To The Editor; How Office Automation thru Work-At-Home can save on Oil Imports
more effectively than Bio-Gas or Hybrid Savings, etc.

2008 – Presidential candidates say, our Country needs energy independence! Going Green!

Our national dependence on foreign oil can be significantly reduced by lowering travel (gas consumption) between work & home. American employers, utilizing current office automation technology, could permit the work force to perform most office tasks at home, rather than driving gas guzzling SUV's.

Those in the Office Automation business wonder why our business leaders and government cannot work towards this objective: a national effort utilizing standard office technologies and the Internet to transition our commuting work force to doing some of their employers’ work at home.

To achieve this goal, our country’s leadership, via tax incentives, can motivate employers to obtain the basic training needed to implement this automation, perhaps by publishing a guide to the automated office at home. Businesses today already utilize desk top computer database applications to perform routine tasks. However, office management is reluctant to take leadership positions in permitting the performance of these tasks from their employee's homes. The transition to this mind-set is not that great and can be implemented gradually, with just one day per work week at home, which is our Countries goal of 20% reduction in gas consumption within 10 years.

The benefits of lower international and domestic oil consumption are many and include a lower national trade deficit, an impact on terrorist funding, time saved in work travel (~1 hour/day), an increase in employee productivity, lower effects of global warming, lower auto insurance, etc.

If you are interested in the line item requirements to carry out this national objective, please feel free to contact me for discussions.
